6,6-[2H]glucose (also known as [6,6-2H2]glucose or dideuterated glucose) is a stable, non-radioactive isotope-labeled form of D-glucose. It is widely utilized in clinical research and metabolic studies as a tracer to quantify glucose kinetics, including endogenous glucose production (EGP), rate of appearance (Ra), and rate of disappearance (Rd). By infusing a known amount of the tracer and measuring its dilution in the plasma using mass spectrometry, researchers can calculate the flux of glucose through various metabolic pathways.
